Fake Twitter Reply Chain Generator

A thread or a back-and-forth of replies, stacked and exported as one image.

How it works

What is the Fake Twitter Reply Chain Generator?

The Fake Twitter Reply Chain Generator is a free tool that stacks two to eight X posts into one image, joined the way X draws a thread. Each post has its own name, handle, badge, avatar, text, time and counts, or reuses the first post's identity. Pick a theme and download it as a PNG.

How to use the Fake Twitter Reply Chain Generator

  1. Fill in Post 1: display name, handle, badge, avatar, text, a time such as 2h or Sep 29, and its counts.
  2. Press Add post for each reply or thread post you need.
  3. For a thread by one account, tick Use same identity as first post. Leave it unticked for a reply from someone else.
  4. Use the arrows to reorder posts or the bin to remove one, and pick a Theme.
  5. Choose an Export scale and press Download PNG.

Reply chain vs thread: what's the difference on X?

A thread is a run of posts by one account, each replying to the one before, so a long piece reads top to bottom. A reply chain is a conversation: posts by different accounts, each answering the last.

X draws both the same way, with a line joining the avatars down the left. This generator does both. Tick Use same identity as first post for a thread, and leave it unticked where someone else replies.

What can you use a thread mockup for?

Planning a thread before you post it, so you can see how the posts read in sequence. Once it is live, the thread retention calculator shows how far readers got. Showing a customer exchange in a case study, drafting a social media brief, or teaching how conversations unfold on X.

Label mockups, and do not pass them off as real posts. A made-up exchange presented as a real one misleads the people who read it.

How do counts and times show in a reply chain mockup?

Counts are shortened the way X shows them: 2,140 becomes 2.1K and 96,400 becomes 96.4K, rounded down, and a count of 0 leaves the space beside the icon empty. Each post takes its time as you type it, so write 2h, 15m or Sep 29 to match how X labels posts in a thread.

Posts are not checked against the 280-character limit, so a mockup can hold a post X would refuse. Paste each one into the Twitter character counter before you plan around it. The image is drawn in your browser at 598 pixels wide, times the export scale, and grows taller with every post you add.

What does each post in a reply chain mockup show?

Each post shows a display name, handle, badge, avatar, text and time, with reply, repost, like and view counts underneath. Posts in a chain are text only: there is no image field and no bookmark count, so the chain stays compact and reads like a conversation.

If one post in the story needs a photo, build that post on its own in the fake tweet generator, which takes an attached image, and show it alongside the chain. For a post that comments on someone else's, the quote tweet generator draws the quoted post inside the new one.
